Training and clinical focus

Dr Goel completed both his MS and MCh training at AIIMS. His current urology practice includes the treatment of benign prostate enlargement, urinary stone disease and other endourological conditions.

His procedural experience includes more than 300 HoLEP procedures and more than 1,500 RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) procedures for kidney stones.

Within prostate surgery, his particular focus is HoLEP. He commonly uses an en-bloc HoLEP approach, with attention to identifying the natural surgical plane, controlled apical dissection and preservation of the external urinary sphincter.

His practice is based in Gurugram, including the Kidney, Prostate and Stone Clinic.

His approach to HoLEP:
The laser provides the energy, but the quality of the operation depends on anatomical understanding, surgical judgement, controlled dissection and experience. Choosing HoLEP should therefore involve choosing the surgeon—not simply choosing a laser.

Areas of interest

HoLEP & enlarged prostate

Evaluation of men with benign prostate enlargement and anatomical laser enucleation when surgery is appropriate, including large prostates.

RIRS & kidney-stone surgery

Extensive experience in endoscopic treatment of renal stones, including more than 1,500 RIRS procedures.

Endourology

Minimally invasive treatment through the urinary tract, with an emphasis on anatomy, technique and patient recovery.

Procedure numbers describe cumulative clinical experience and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of an individual surgical outcome.

Why HoLEPIndia.com exists

Patients advised prostate surgery are often faced with multiple procedures, technical terms and conflicting claims. HoLEPIndia.com was created to explain the decision in a more structured way: whether surgery is really required, what evaluation should be performed, how HoLEP works, what recovery is like, and how it compares with alternatives.

The aim is not to suggest that every man with an enlarged prostate needs HoLEP. Treatment should reflect symptoms, complications, prostate anatomy, general health and individual priorities.

Principles of care

  • Confirm the indication for surgery before discussing the operation.
  • Match the procedure to prostate anatomy and the patient's priorities.
  • Discuss continence, ejaculation and recovery before surgery.
  • Use sphincter-conscious technique during apical dissection.
  • Explain benefits and limitations without promising a perfect outcome.
  • For large prostates, consider HoLEP on its merits rather than assuming size alone requires abdominal or robotic surgery.
