Planning HoLEP treatment from abroad

If you live outside India, much of the assessment can begin before you travel. The aim is to review your records, understand whether surgery is actually indicated, and give you a practical treatment plan before you make travel arrangements.

Start with a remote record review

Send the available medical records so that the clinical problem can be reviewed before travel.

  • Symptoms and current medicines
  • PSA and relevant blood tests
  • Ultrasound / prostate volume / residual urine
  • Uroflowmetry if available
  • Previous biopsy, MRI, cystoscopy or operative records when relevant
  • Current catheter status, infections or retention history
A practical pathway

From first contact to return home

1

Share records

Medical reports are reviewed to understand the diagnosis, prostate anatomy, previous treatment and whether additional evaluation is likely to be needed.

2

Preliminary treatment plan

You receive a provisional opinion about whether HoLEP or another treatment appears appropriate, together with the expected sequence of care.

3

Plan travel

Once treatment is agreed, the team can help coordinate appointment timing and provide relevant medical documentation for travel when appropriate.

4

Assessment in Gurugram

Necessary examination and investigations are completed or confirmed after arrival before proceeding to surgery.

5

HoLEP & recovery

Hospital stay, catheter removal and discharge timing depend on the individual clinical course. Travel plans should allow adequate recovery time.

6

Follow-up after return

Reports, pathology and recovery can be reviewed remotely, with local medical care arranged when needed.

What international patients should clarify

Do I really need surgery?

Prostate size alone is not enough. Symptoms, retention, complications, bladder function and previous treatment all matter.

Which procedure fits my anatomy?

HoLEP is a strong option across a broad range of prostate sizes, but alternatives may be more appropriate in selected patients.

How long should I remain in India?

This depends on age, prostate size, comorbidities, catheter status and postoperative recovery. A personalised recommendation is better than a fixed package duration.

Important: A final treatment recommendation can only be made after adequate clinical assessment. Remote review helps with planning but does not replace examination and necessary investigations.
